Smart Strategies for Optimising Interior Design Projects

Today, I want to focus on something fundamental: the details that transform a project.
Taps: The Soul of the Bathroom
When designing a bathroom, we often focus on the larger surface materials, such as marble or ceramics. However, taps are the element that truly defines the character and style of this space. A well-chosen tap not only unifies the design but also adds a touch of distinction that can elevate an entire project.
I recall a project opposite the Spanish Embassy in London, where the budget was limited. Despite this, we managed to select taps that were not only contemporary but also respected the traditional style of the building. This small detail radically changed the perception of the project, making it much more attractive without resorting to exorbitantly priced materials. This is where a smart decision can transform a space, making it stand out above others.
 Choosing Marble: Beyond Fashion
The marble market is a clear example of how supply and demand can affect a project's cost. It is not always necessary to opt for the most expensive or fashionable marble; often, more economical alternatives exist that, due to lower demand, become an ideal choice for projects seeking durability and style without falling into the repetition that comes with popular trends.
Choosing less popular marbles can not only reduce costs but also bring originality to a project, preventing the design from looking like a replica of other contemporary works. Ultimately, what we seek is for our projects to have a unique and enduring personality.
Sockets and Switches: Details That Cannot Be Overlooked
A common mistake in many projects is underestimating the importance of sockets and switches. These small elements, often overlooked, can significantly impact the aesthetics and functionality of a space. Investing in sockets that integrate with the kitchen design or the finishes of a room is not an unnecessary expense but an investment in the project’s coherence.
For example, in high-end kitchens, the difference between a white plastic socket and one that coordinates with the appliances or splashback can be minimal in cost but enormous in visual impact. In some projects, we have even designed sockets carved in marble, perfectly integrating them with the surrounding material. While it is not always necessary to go to such extremes, it is crucial that the sockets and switches harmonise with the rest of the design.

Conclusion: Smart Choices for Long-Lasting Projects
The key to a successful project lies in attention to detail. Smart investments in elements like taps, sockets, and switches can make the difference between an ordinary space and one that truly stands out. These decisions not only enhance the appearance of the project but also contribute to its durability and longevity, ensuring our clients are satisfied both now and in the future.
Any time is a perfect time to reflect on how our projects can evolve and improve. As always, my goal is that these tips are applicable and useful for those developing their own projects. Investing in details, though small compared to the total cost, can have an immense impact on the final result.
Thank you to everyone who stops by.
